We just celebrated Poppy’s 5th Birthday. We decided to have a Flower Fairy theme as Poppy is sure that she is a real life fairy perhaps from a previous time on earth. Who knows but she has a nymph like nature and a sparkle in her eye to match. Being a makeup artist I thought it was an easy option for me to do hair, makeup & nails for the littlies. I first came across No-nasties Makeup before Christmas where the gorgeous owner Natalia sent me a pack for me and Poppy to review on the blog. Guess what happened… Poppy was so excited that she ripped the box open before I could even grab my camera! So I, or should I say, the fairies treated Poppy to a deluxe play makeup set.
A word about my feelings on makeup for kids. I’m a makeup artist Poppy sees me put it on everyday, of course she wants to play with makeup, she basically wants to be a mini mummy but for me I had never bought any. The most I would do is give her a sweep of highlighter. Of course someone else did and what resulted was my cute girls face with a greasy vaseline like finish smeared all over her…yuck. I want to make sure what she’s using to play with is not loaded with chemicals, that it’s a safe product for her to experiment with and that it doesn’t leave her face looking gross!
Needless to say all the girls loved it! My favourites where the white sparkle eyeshadow and the shimmer balm…I like little girls to look like little girls. Poppy and her friends liked the purple and blue, the blush and the lipbalm was also a favourite.
What else do I love about it? The brown paper packaging is super cute & recycled. The products are made by mums!! I love the quirkiness, I love that this is something unique, cool & as Poppy would say ‘healthy’. So if you do have a little person birthday coming up I highly recommend no nasties, next on my list is to try their edible nail polishes (!) and colourful hair chalk. Head over to read all about No Nasties Makeup and treat your little ones to some safe colour in their lives!
